On Monday (Mar.16), Tina Knowles’ gumbo booth at the 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was briefly shut down. The Houston Health Department tells TMZ the shutdown was for “undisclosed reasons.” However, the closure didn’t last long; Mama Tina was back in the saddle, ready to serve up her famous gumbo a few days later on Tuesday (Mar.17).
“On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Houston Health Department issued a temporary closure of Mama Tina’s Gumbo booth at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as a result of a complaint investigation,” the Health Department tells TMZ. “The vendor was cooperative with the department’s recommendations and passed a subsequent inspection. It was authorized to reopen on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.”
Video Circulated Online of Alleged Customer Who Became Ill
Prior to news coverage, a video circulated online from an alleged customer of Mama Tina’s who claimed they became ill at the Houston eatery. In the short video, the unknown alleged customer shows a text message from a Health Department representative. The validity of the text message is still up for debate. On the other hand, according to Beyoncé fans, the situation was just a form of sabotage.
“If y’all believe this, y’all are as dumb as them,” one person wrote in the comment section of the video post. “This account’s credibility just went completely out the window with this one tweet lmaoooo y’all cannot possibly be this slow,” another person commented. One person questioned the authenticity of the text message, writing, “Why would a Health department text somebody personally if it’s affecting multiple people?
