TMC: Nipsey Hussle’s Foundation Joining Forces With The L.A. Marathon

The marathon continues.

Although the Grammy-Award winning rapper/activist, Nipsey Hussle is tragically no longer with us, his legacy continues to be a force. The Neighborhood Nip foundation is collaborating with the 2024 Los Angeles Marathon as an official charity partner.

Sam Asghedom, Nip’s brother and business partner told the Hollywood Reporter that his brother wanted to make this move before his untimely passing. He even wanted to run in the race, told his crew to “get in shape,” according to Sam.

Sam revealed to the publication, “We are honored to be able to partner with the LA marathon. It means a lot to us because it’s something that Nip spoke about and had an interest in being a part of.”

The marathon takes place on March 17. Nip’s clothing brand, TMC, will enter a team of 15 or more and all the money raised will go toward the Neighborhood Nip Foundation. If you’d like to run in support of Nip’s foundation, you can do so at themarathon2024.com. The foundation plans on sponsoring individuals who can’t afford the race fees.

In a statement, Melissa Christian, charity director for the Los Angeles Marathon, said:

“The Los Angeles Marathon is so much more than just a race; it’s a platform to empower communities and this partnership truly embodies that spirit, uniting our neighborhoods in a shared commitment to build a healthier world while celebrating Nipsey Hussle’s enduring legacy of resilience in the city he loved.”

Nipsey’s foundation was created in 2019 to inspire the community through initiatives benefiting underprivileged youth. However, prior to the official launch, aside from being a skilled lyricist, he was working overtime to revitalize his community.

His TMC store in LA was part of a strip mall that he planned to redevelop as a mixed-use property with a focus on low-income housing for locals, according to the Los Angeles Times. He promoted investments over materialism.

In 2024, The Neighborhood Nip Foundation will reportedly kick off programming with a reconstruction of the Nipsey Hussle Plaza property. The renovated site will serve as a community center for elementary and high school students and will focus on academics and music, the article states.

In 2019, Nipsey was gunned down in broad daylight, outside of his Marathon Clothing store. The man responsible, Eric Holder, was found guilty and sentenced to 60 years to life.

NIPSEY HUSSLE FOREVER!
