As gas prices continue to soar, people are getting clever with trying to deal with it.

In Texas, Dallas residents went back in time and started riding horses; meanwhile, in Florida, four men tried to hack the gas station to reduce the price.

As reported on news sources, four Florida men were caught installing devices inside gas pumps that dropped prices to nearly nothing. NY Post reported the clever crooks installed “sophisticated ‘pulsators’ inside pumps that regulate price and fuel flow. The devices sent per-gallon cost plunging down to just pennies and allowed pumpers to fill up almost for free.”

The four men allegedly did the scam at two separate gas stations. The outlet reports Rogelio Llerena and Yulier Garcia-Martinez were caught on March 12 while “topping off an oversize gas tank in Lakeland.” Yordian Diaz-Benitez, was arrested at a gas station for stealing diesel fuel on March 10. Marlon Rosel-Rodriguez was arrested two days later for attempting to place the device inside a pump at the same station. They were charged with theft.

Law enforcement agencies warned gas station owners to look for trucks stopped at pumps for unusually long periods. Officials fear this sort of crime could continue.
