Tsu Surf, a well-known battle rapper from New Jersey, launched a new website called Tsu Surf Report to connect with his fans after being sentenced to five years in federal prison in 2024.
On Wednesday morning (Jan. 15), the “Nana Crib” hitmaker broke his silence with an official statement announcing an outlet to continuously update his journey in his own words. “This website isn’t just for me; it’s for everyone who has supported me throughout this journey,” Surf stated. “Even though I’m currently away, I want my fans to know I’m still here, thinking about them and wanting to connect. This is my way in doing so.”
In November 2024, the 35-year-old rap star was sentenced to five years in federal prison without parole for his involvement in a racketeering conspiracy and illegal firearm possession. In addition to his prison term, Surf, whose real name is Rahjon Cox, received three years of supervised release and fines.
The new website’s launch was a group effort that included the assistance of fellow New Jersey natives Sunny Melvin and Kadi Cisse. Surf will weigh in on trending topics, reflect on his journey, and more through the website. Promising the rap star’s prominent return after serving his term, Sunny and Kadi appreciate the opportunity to reconnect with his fans.
“As Jersey natives, it was important to us to help contribute to Tsu Surf’s growth and comeback,” they share in a joint statement. “We wanted to make sure the wave keeps going strong and build up momentum for his release, which is how the site came to life. This platform is for the fans, for the culture, and to keep Surf connected to his supporters while he’s away. 2025 will be his year, which is only the beginning of a powerful comeback.”
The website includes a letter from Surf thanking family and fans for their unwavering support. It also promotes the hashtag “#FreeTheWave.” The hashtag is accompanied by the slogan, “Surf with the wave.”
Before incarceration, Surf’s battle rap resume and artistry continued to resonate. His latest album, Disparu, was released in November 2022, featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Jim Jones and Remy Ma. The project has been widely praised for its raw and introspective themes, reflecting his turbulent life.
Surf appeared in great spirits last week in a new photo featuring the rapper with fellow incarcerated rap star Pooh Shiesty circulated on social media.
