Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is showing “remarkable improvement” according to a statement released by his team.
We previously reported that the ball player suffered cardiac arrest during last week’s game against the Cincinatti Bengals.
Hamlin fell after being involved in the tackling of Cincinnati receiver Tee Higgins. He then stood up, seemingly adjusted his face mask and then collapsed during the games first quarter at the 5:58 mark.
The game was cancelled following the medical emergency. The team released a statement reading, “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in the Buffalo Bills’ game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. “
The statement continued, “his heartbeat was restored on the field, and he was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”
The team gave an update on his condition, stating that Hamlin appears to be “neurologically intact.” The statement reads, “per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours,” the team said. “While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress. We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”
