Vivica A. Fox returned to daytime TV on Tuesday, when she sat down with Sherri Shepherd and revisited the long-running conversation about her past with 50 Cent. Earlier this month, clips from her appearance at a Women’s Expo spread quickly after she seemed to caution women against dating rappers, especially 50. Now, Fox is explaining that her comments were misunderstood. “I didn’t say you couldn’t play with them,” she told Sherri, stressing that people exaggerated what she meant. “You acted like I was on the picket line. Every time somebody ask me something, ‘Don’t date 50 Cent.’ That was not it. What happened is I said, ‘Vivica, if you could tell your 17-year-old self anything.’ That was me, like, I wish I knew not to go public so fast, not to have it out there, not to have the breakup that’s lasted 22 years.”

Fox admitted she cracked up at 50 Cent’s playful reaction. The rapper shared an AI version of himself styled as Morpheus from The Matrix, offering a red and blue pill with the caption, “Either way I’m a have that a** in the matrix,” and added, “You know I love me some you, girl. But damn it’s been 22 years, Vivica.” Their brief romance happened in 2003, ending that same year. Though the aftermath has stretched across decades, with highs and lows played out in public.

Despite everything, Fox made it clear there is no bad blood today. She told Sherri she still feels a soft spot for him and pointed to the passion they once shared. “You know you got that one that you always got that one that you always got a little special place for, but we are in a good place, and I’ll take the blue pill. Oh my goodness,” she said. “Remember the time!”

After the episode aired, 50 responded again on Instagram, posting the clip with the caption, “What the fvck is going on here Shaniqua & Jane doe don’t act like that, and I had to pay them h**’s. LOL.”
