Wendy Williams will continue under a court-appointed guardianship following the results of a recent medical review. According to legal records obtained by PEOPLE, the former talk show host went through an in-depth evaluation that involved a wide range of medical and neuropsychological tests, along with brain scans. Doctors have reached a conclusion about her neurological health, although the exact findings are not listed in the court documents. Sources say Williams has been living with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia since 2023.

In the filing, attorney Lisa Brown, who represents Wendy’s guardian Sabrina Morrissey, asked the court to extend the guardianship until November 5th. The request also mentions issues arising from some of Wendy’s family members, her ex-husband, and others who plan to challenge both the arrangement and Morrissey’s role.

The update comes months after a highly publicized incident on March 10th, when New York police removed Wendy from her assisted living facility and brought her to the hospital. The following day, she appeared on Good Day New York by phone and spoke about her health and recent mental competency tests. She told viewers, “I passed with flying colors!” before asking her caretaker, Ginalia Monterrosa, to share more details.

Monterrosa explained to anchor Rosanna Scotto, “She had those tests, she’s been deemed she is not incapacitated. I think it’s great news, and it’s public, and everybody knows factually that Wendy’s not incapacitated.”

When Scotto asked if she was happy with the independent assessment, Wendy replied without hesitation, “Absolutely. That is what I want, and that is what I got.”

For now, the guardianship remains in place while the court navigates the ongoing legal challenges. A review of the situation is expected in early November.
