James Harden is facing some heavy backlash!

As the Houston Rockets player is gearing up to play in the NBA Bubble, his mask choice made people upset. James sported a blue lives matter mask as he entered his new home for the NBA season, ultimately showing support for the police.

People are upset for the obvious reason, in today’s climate, there’s a division and a lack of trust between urban communities and the police. The public May 25 lynching of George Floyd ay the hands of four Minneapolis police, along with the killings of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, sparked a global/nationwide push to put an end to police brutality and white supremacy.

On one hand, people were confused as to why a Black basketball player would show support to the police right now while other people online realize that James may not be fully aware of what’s happening in the world right now. Trey Songz called the move “certified clown sh*t.” However, Young Thug defended James and called him his “brada.” Meek also chimed in and reminded folks that James always gives back to the community and he simply wore it without knowing the meaning.

“Just so u know James harden is my brada… btw he don’t have internet so he obviously don’t know what’s right or wrong if he posted something that’s against US…but I hate when rappers get in niggas biz like it’s can’t happen to em.”

As of right now, James hasn’t spoken out on the situation.
