Young Thug is finally speaking openly about his fractured relationship with Gunna, addressing the tension that has surrounded the YSL camp since the highly publicized RICO case.
In a recent episode of Perspektives with Bank, the Atlanta rapper admitted he feels both hurt and confused by Gunna’s silence following his controversial plea deal. “Gunna, you my brother. I love you to death… Why you ain’t gave me an explanation?” Thug asked, making it clear that accountability — even if painful — was what he expected.
“Even if I don’t want to hear it, you still supposed to be a real… say it,” he continued. Thug reminded listeners of their long-standing brotherhood and shared success, noting, “We done made all the millions in the world together. I gave you the millions. How can you just do what you did to me and then just go live your life? Like ain’t nothing happened?”
Thug’s remarks point to Gunna’s 2022 Alford plea in the sweeping YSL RICO trial — a decision many in the rap community interpreted as a form of betrayal. While Gunna has maintained his innocence and insisted he never cooperated against YSL, the plea deal left lingering questions. For Thug, the deeper wound appears to be the lack of personal communication from Gunna afterward.
Despite his disappointment, Thug’s tone shifted in a later appearance on the same platform. He acknowledged the difficulty of navigating emotions from behind bars and revealed that his feelings have evolved. “I love you bruh… I poured so much into him, I can’t even hate him,” Thug said. “In jail I thought I hated him… but I don’t wish no ill will on him — no ill feelings at all.”
