Although there have been some talented women grab the microphone that past few years, the genre has been dominated by one female MC by the name of Nicki Minaj.
Nicki has dominated the charts for years with hit after hit for years to come. For the first time since 2014, there’s another woman on top of the charts.
Cardi B and her hit single “Bodak Yellow” has taken the nation by storm, hitting the number 14 spot in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. According to the publication it is the highest charting track from a female rapper not named Nicki Minaj since 2014.
Impressive.
It’s hard to ask if this could be the beginning of another Female MC revolution, something that is much needed in hip hop at the moment.
