Earlier last year, when TDE CEO Top Dawg revealed the status of all the label’s projects, he’d revealed that there were two new signees – “John Doe 1” and “John Doe 2” – and one of those ended up being Lance Skiiiwalker. At the end of 2016, Top Dawg sent out a cryptic tweet about the label’s roster, noting how they’d dropped 6 projects that year, but the numbers didn’t add up.
There was ScHoolboy Q’s Blankface, Kendrick Lamar’s untitled, unmastered, Ab-Soul’s DWTW, Isaiah Rashad’s The Sun’s Tirade and even Skiiiwalker’s Introverted Intuition – which would then leave that sixth TDE album to be from this John Doe 2. Fans began dishing out theories, and eventually narrowed the options down to SiR from Inglewood, Kemba from the Bronx or Kembe X from Chicago. Turns out, they were right on the money with the former.
In a new press release yesterday, Top Dawg confirmed that SiR is indeed TDE’s newest signee.
“I’m proud and it’s an honor,” SiR added in the press release. “The response has been crazy. It’s been amazing. I’m just excited that people love the music and are listening. I got so much more to share.”
Congrats to all!
