Who’s Next along with TT Torrez and Jermaine Dupri linked up for a very special monthly showcase dubbed the So So Def Women’s Cypher.
The event was born following comments the Atlanta producer made on People TV, in which he gave his opinions on the women’s movement in rap at the moment, “the only reason why I can’t say is because I feel they’re all rapping about the same things. I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper. I think they’re trying to show—for me, it’s like strippers rapping.”
He and TT Torrez hopped on Instagram Live to debate his comments, which then resulted in a special event by Dupri to find some of the best female MC’s in the nation.
Four were chosen to perform at the world famous SOB’s and show off their skills; Deseree Simone, J Jig Cicero, Indigo Otomatic, and Abyss Tha Byssness.
