Issa Rae is known for being unapologetically honest about loving her people and her community!
The ‘Insecure’ star hosted the CFDA awards that took place at the Brooklyn Museum, and her fashion statement made headlines!
Issa wore a beautiful royal blue gown with a black belt that read ‘Every N***a is a Star.” (If it sounds familiar it’s probably because you heard it from Boris Gardiner FIRST.)
Not only that, but in her opening monologue the multi-talented actress/writer/producer stated:
“I’m about as fashionable as Kanye is black. Only when it’s convenient,” she said. “That joke was my choice, just like slavery.”
Keep in mind Issa Rae is the first African American woman to host the fashion award show.
While Kanye West wasn’t present for the joke, Kim Kardashian was given an award and her acceptance speech consisted of a few puns as well.
