Master P will officially end his music career in New Orleans this July.
The award-winning founder of No Limit Records will give his final performance at the Essence Festival 2025 before turning his full attention to mentoring youth through basketball.
“Say goodbye to Master P and hello to Coach P,” Miller told WDSU’s Shay O’Connor. His July 6 set at the Caesars Superdome will mark a rare No Limit reunion and a final salute to the city that made him.
Miller, raised in New Orleans’ Calliope Projects, credits his work ethic to his father. That discipline launched him from underground rap to a self-made empire. In the 1990s, he sold over 100 million records while pioneering independent ownership in hip-hop.
No Limit became a movement. Miller showed that artists could control their masters, build brands, and uplift communities.
Since then, he’s expanded into film, fashion, food, and civic leadership. Named New Orleans’ entertainment ambassador, he also founded the NOLA Walk of Fame.
Now, he’s focused on building future leaders. As the new president of basketball operations at the University of New Orleans, Miller calls coaching a life-saving mission. His own high school coach changed his life—now, he hopes to do the same for others.
“Helping these kids get college degrees and stay off the streets—that’s my purpose,” he said.
UNO’s season begins November 8. Miller is asking for local support—especially from nutritionists and arena upgrades. Interested community members can email bigbluecollectivenil@gmail.com.
His final show will also mark 20 years since Hurricane Katrina, honoring the city’s strength. On June 11, Louisiana officially declared Master P Day, celebrating his work as a musician, businessman, and educator. His financial literacy programs reach students across all grade levels.
Miller is stepping away from music, but not from service. For him, the mic drop is only the start.
