Jay-Z stunned fans at the Stade de France on June 22, making a surprise appearance during Beyoncé’s final “Cowboy Carter” show in Paris.
The moment felt personal and historic as the music power couple reunited onstage, reminding the crowd of their lasting chemistry and influence.
Wearing a black hoodie and sunglasses, Jay-Z appeared without warning, joining Beyoncé to perform their 2003 hit “Crazy in Love.” The crowd erupted. Their connection felt effortless, a return to the spark that launched their early collaborations. Among the stars in attendance were Kelly Rowland and Cardi B, who added to the night’s buzz after her recent stop at Cannes Lions.
This marked the duo’s first Paris performance together since their “On The Run” tour in 2014. They last shared a stage in 2018 for the Global Citizen Festival and before that, at the 2016 close of Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” tour, where Kendrick Lamar made the only other guest appearance.
The Carters’ children were also part of the “Cowboy Carter” era. Blue Ivy, a featured dancer throughout the tour, earned praise for her stage presence. Rumi Carter added vocals to songs like “16 Carriages” and “Protector,” tying family into the album’s emotional fabric.
Beyoncé has used this tour to spotlight special guests. Earlier that week in Paris, she performed her Grammy-winning duet “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus. These moments underscore her genre-bending vision, weaving country, soul, and pop with ease.
Variety’s Chris Willman praised the tour as a “2-hour-45-minute mashup” of dance, country, and Americana, describing it as a “boundary-busting” spectacle. Jay-Z’s surprise appearance captured that spirit, reinforcing “Cowboy Carter” as a celebration of freedom, legacy, and genre-defying artistry.
In Paris, Beyoncé didn’t just end her tour—she made history, again.
