Michael Jackson’s estate has slammed Sexyy Red for her raunchy spin on the singer’s “Beat It,” after a video of the rapper using the track’s iconic beat went viral. A rep for the estate tells Billboard that they had no idea that the track, which is titled “Just Eat It, “even existed. They also noted that the explicit remix was completely “unauthorized.”

Sexyy Red’s team could not be reached for a statement, according to the outlet. Since the start of her career, Sexyy Red has faced heavy criticism for her explicit lyrics. However, the reactions to her latest antics were a bit more severe than in years past. Likely because Jackson is revered as a pop icon, and many feel Sexyy Red’s version puts a stain on his legacy.

Last Janurary, Sexyy Red landed in hot water after she shared an AI-generated image of herself with the late Martin Luther King Jr on X. It didn’t take long for the civil rights leader’s daughter, Bernice King, to catch wind of the post. She didn’t mince words, calling the post “intentionally distasteful, dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful” to her family and her father’s legacy.

He was assassinated for working for your civil and human rights and to end war and poverty. Please delete,” she added. Not long after, Sexxy Red issued an apology and took down the post. “You ain’t wrong. Never meant to disrespect your family, my apologies,” she said, explaining, “Just resposted [sic] something I saw that I thought was innocent.” King thanked the rapper for her apology and noted she had no intention to “denigrate” her. She added, “I value you as a human being.”
