Tributes for Tay Keith continued to circulate across the hip-hop community after news of his death. Sexyy Red was among those sharing public messages of remembrance. What began as a wave of condolences quickly widened online. Unverified claims about past financial arrangements between the two began appearing in comment threads and fan discussions. One circulating post, attributed to The Jasmine Brand on Instagram, showed Sexyy Red sharing a video clip featuring Keith. This post was accompanied by prayer hands and cat hand emojis. In another message, she wrote, “BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT WE BROTHERS BUT NOT RELATED,” followed by, “I LOVE YOU BRUDDAAA @taykeith STILL DA BEST DUO US 5LIFE.”

As the posts spread, the conversation around them shifted away from tribute and toward speculation. Some commenters alleged there were unpaid royalties connected to past collaborations. Others pushed back, pointing to how often financial disputes in music can be shaped by label structures and contracts that are not publicly visible. No documentation or official reporting has surfaced to support the claims. Additionally, neither Sexyy Red nor Tay Keith had previously acknowledged any such dispute. She has not addressed the recent wave of criticism.

The uncertainty has largely played out in the absence of clear information. It has been amplified by the timing of Keith’s death. The allegations center on supposed disagreements over royalties from joint work. However, no court filings, statements, or verified accounts have been made public to substantiate them. In earlier interviews, Keith had spoken about Sexyy Red in largely supportive terms. He described their collaboration as creatively intuitive even in the face of outside skepticism.

Tay Keith says he was mocked for backing Sexyy Red early

“People were trolling the s**t out of me,” the late producer told Billboard. “They were real-deal trolling me. It wasn’t much good feedback. It was coming from even people around me, ‘What you doing?’ I saw the potential. That’s as simple as it was, me believing in her. I think people doubted me working with her. Because they didn’t see the reason to do it. I definitely seen the potential. I tell people all the time how long I was watching Sexyy Red’s music before she blew up.”

Tay Keith died on June 18 in Nashville, where authorities responded to a welfare check, according to local reports. Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding his death, which remains under review. He was 30 years old.
