Rapper iHeartMemphis, whose legal name is Richard Maurice Colbert, was arrested Tuesday in Plantation, Florida, marking his second arrest within a week, according to local authorities.
Plantation Police responded to a reported disturbance in the 8600 block of Gatehouse Road and located Colbert at the scene. Officers said Colbert was using a cellphone and posting to social media, conduct that allegedly violated the terms of his pretrial release stemming from a prior arrest.
“Colbert was using a cellphone and posting on social media, which violates the conditions of his pretrial release,” police said in a statement.
The arrest follows a separate incident last week in which Colbert allegedly barricaded himself in home during a SWAT standoff. Authorities say he livestreamed portions of that encounter. Prosecutors subsequently charged him with written or electronic threats to kill and resisting an officer without violence.
“Hit The Quan” Rapper IHeartMemphis Arrested Again In Florida
On Tuesday, when officers attempted to detain him, Colbert fled on foot, police said. Investigators allege he entered neighboring properties while attempting to evade arrest, accessing fenced backyards and screened patios without authorization.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office established a perimeter and deployed aviation units and K-9 teams. “Residents were advised to stay inside as deputies searched for him,” authorities said. Colbert was later located and taken into custody without further incident.
Law enforcement has not announced whether additional charges will be filed in connection with Tuesday’s events. A previous arrest warrant alleges that Colbert went live on Instagram and made threats to shoot and kill.
Colbert rose to prominence with his 2015 single “Hit the Quan,” which gained national traction through social media and charted on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list.
The investigation remains ongoing.
