R&B singer Ray J says he is recovering after a frightening knockout during a celebrity MMA event in Las Vegas led to a hospital stay and renewed concern about his health.
The 45-year-old entertainer shared a brief update from a hospital bed days after losing to internet personality Supa Hot Fire during Adin Ross’ Brand Risk 14 event at UFC Apex.
“Getting better,” Ray J wrote online. “I’ll see y’all on Friday.”
The message arrived after clips of the knockout flooded X, Instagram, and TikTok. Fans immediately expressed concern because of Ray J’s earlier public comments about serious heart complications.
Despite the scare, Ray J told supporters he still plans to appear at his scheduled May 29 performance at the Pete Be Center in San Jose.
The celebrity MMA fight became one of the night’s biggest viral moments. Ray J entered aggressively during the opening round and attempted to pressure Supa Hot Fire early. However, momentum shifted quickly in the second round.
R&B Singer Ray J Shares Positive Update After Hospitalization Over Supa Hot Fire Knockout
Supa Hot Fire, whose real name is DeWayne Stevenson, landed a clean right hand less than 30 seconds into the round. The punch dropped Ray J to the canvas and forced an immediate stoppage.
Videos of the knockout spread online within minutes.
Reports later revealed Ray J checked himself into a Las Vegas hospital roughly two hours after the fight. Doctors reportedly evaluated him for a possible concussion while also monitoring concerns related to his heart rate.
The hospitalization sparked even more concern because Ray J discussed severe health struggles earlier this year. During emotional livestreams following a January hospitalization, he claimed years of alcohol abuse and substance use damaged his heart significantly.
At the time, Ray J said doctors warned him about serious long-term complications. Those earlier statements resurfaced immediately after footage from the fight circulated online.
The incident also reignited criticism surrounding celebrity boxing and influencer MMA events. Some fans questioned whether Ray should have competed given his documented medical concerns. Others praised him for addressing the situation directly instead of remaining silent.
For now, Ray appears focused on recovery.
His update remained short but reassuring. After a brutal knockout and unexpected hospital stay, the singer says he is improving and preparing to return to the stage this week.
