Waka Flocka Flame is fueling conversation across hip-hop after floating the idea of a potential collaboration between Wale and Kendrick Lamar, a pairing many fans say would be both lyrically heavy and commercially explosive.
The Atlanta rapper made his case plainly on X, writing, “A Wale and Kendrick Lamar record or ep go hard if not diamond!!! Mark my words 🤞🏾”
The post quickly sparked debate over whether two of rap’s most respected lyricists could deliver a full-length project. A “diamond” certification marks more than 10 million units sold or equivalent streams, a rare benchmark in the industry.
Waka’s statement framed the idea on two levels. One centers on artistry. He sees both rappers as strong writers with sharp storytelling ability and cultural awareness. The other centers on scale. He suggested that their combined fan bases and reputations could push the project into blockbuster territory.
The conversation grew as fans weighed in with different perspectives. Some argued timing matters most. One user wrote, “maybe in poetic justice era, I don’t know about now,” referencing Kendrick Lamar’s early-career breakout period and the era when both artists were gaining mainstream momentum.

Others pointed out that the collaboration history already exists in smaller form. A fan noted, “They both were on Power Circle if I remember it right,” referencing the 2011 track Power Circle, where both artists appeared before reaching superstar status.
Listeners also revisited fan favorites from their overlapping catalogs. One comment highlighted, “Loooooottus flower bombbbbbbbb… still one of the hardest songs ever,” referencing Wale’s breakout single.
Other reactions leaned into hype and anticipation. Fans writing, “Manifesting this collab fr” and “If that ever drops its instant classic.”
A full Wale and Kendrick Lamar project remains one of the genre’s most intriguing unrealized possibilities. It blends Wale’s DMV style with K. Dot’s West Coast style.
Neither Wale nor Kendrick Lamar have addressed Waka’s tweet yet.
