Cardi B took to social media Sunday to dismiss a viral video that allegedly depicted her involved in a physical altercation.
The Bronx-born artist took to X to deny that she was the woman featured in the grainy footage. The controversy began when a social media user posted a video claiming to show the “Bodak Yellow” rapper getting physically overwhelmed during a fight with another woman.
As the clip began to circulate widely across digital platforms, fans and critics alike debated the identity of the person in the video, with many pointing to a signature yellow wig as evidence of Cardi’s involvement. Cardi B did not wait long to address the speculation, responding directly to the original post on Aug. 2. “Now where the hell I’m at in this video?” she questioned.
Despite the rapper’s denial, the user who shared the footage doubled down on their claims. The account holder, identified by the handle willwyd, alleged that Cardi B’s fanbase was attempting to suppress the evidence.
“Girl dats you in dat banana yellow wig getting yo s**t peeled back,” the user wrote in a follow-up post. The user further claimed that additional videos were being mass-reported by fans to prevent them from remaining on the platform. The timing of this viral distraction comes as Cardi B manages several ongoing professional rivalries within the hip-hop community. Tensions have recently flared between the rapper and Akbar V following the release of Cardi’s latest single, “Ah Ha.”
While Cardi B has stated that the track was not intended as a diss song toward Akbar, the track has nonetheless been used by other public figures to mock her rivals during livestreams. This incident highlights the growing trend of unverified “fight videos” and AI-generated content targeting high-profile celebrities. While Cardi B has a well-documented history of engaging in “clap-backs” against online trolls, she has recently expressed a desire to focus on her music and her family.
