Ye made a massive return to his hometown of Chicago, taking over Soldier Field for two sold-out nights packed with surprise guests.
The Chicago dates, held September 3 and 4, were part of the YE Live Stadium Tour, an independently promoted global stadium run produced in the United States by IKON Presents.
The shows also highlighted a major story happening behind the scenes. Ye’s U.S. stadium run is being promoted independently, without backing from Live Nation, AEG or another major corporate touring company.
Night One:
Ye opened the first night with an appropriate hometown anthem: “Homecoming.”
Big Sean reunited with Ye for “Clique,” while 2 Chainz appeared for “Mercy.” Chicago legend Twista delivered another hometown moment with performances of “Slow Jamz” and “Overnight Celebrity.”
Future also hit the Soldier Field stage, bringing Atlanta energy to Chicago before Ye eventually closed out the night with one of the biggest records of his career, “Runaway.”
Kid Cudi, Travis Scott, Chief Keef & More Join Night Two
Ye returned to Soldier Field with an enormous collection of special guests, including Chief Keef, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Young Thug, CyHi, GLC, Really Doe, Consequence, Twista, Common, Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi.
One of the night’s biggest moments came when Kid Cudi and Ye reunited onstage.
Their relationship has played an important role in both artists’ careers, making the reunion especially significant for longtime fans. As the moment unfolded, Travis Scott was seen in the crowd recording and singing along to Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” with fans surrounding him.
Chicago’s own Lupe Fiasco also stepped back into one of the most memorable moments of Ye’s early career by performing his verse from “Touch the Sky.”
Backstage, another piece of Chicago Hip-Hop history came together when Common, Lupe Fiasco, Twista and Big Sean posed for a photo that quickly circulated across social media.
Ye also delivered an emotional hometown moment involving Lil Durk, playing a voice message from the Chicago rapper before “All My Life.” The record sparked a massive singalong throughout Soldier Field.
Across the two shows, Ye’s stage became more than a place for individual performances. It served as a timeline connecting his career, his collaborators and multiple generations of Chicago music.
