U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett made a surprise appearance at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night to present R&B superstar Chris Brown with a rare congressional recognition during his sold-out performance.
The presentation took place during a stop of the highly publicized “R&B Tour,” a co-headlining stadium run featuring both Brown and Usher. Crockett, a Democrat representing Texas’ 30th Congressional District, took the stage to address the massive crowd, celebrating Brown’s long-standing career and his influence on the music industry.
The recognition serves to formally document Brown’s artistic contributions within the House of Representatives records. “We are here because of Chris Brown!” Crockett told the audience, according to video footage of the event. The congresswoman was joined by Texas state Rep. Venton Jones for the presentation, which occurred as Brown stood nearby in a baseball cap and ripped jeans. Music producer RoccStar, a frequent collaborator of Brown, claimed responsibility for facilitating the connection between the artist and the congressional office.
Taking to social media, RoccStar described the moment as a historic milestone for the singer’s legacy. “I had the pleasure of making a powerhouse play between congress and my brother @chrisbrownofficial with such a rare honor,” RoccStar said in an Instagram post. He further noted that the honor ensures Brown and Usher will be “remembered forever by the House of Representatives” as two of the most influential musicians in the genre.
Crockett has represented her Texas district since 2023. Her appearance at the concert comes after a year of high visibility in the national political landscape, including a bid for the U.S. Senate earlier this spring. Brom and Usher are expected to continue their stadium circuit through the remainder of the month.
