From the way these national and global protests are turning out, we are not stopping until justice is served for George Floyd.
In the latest report, the man who murdered George Floyd in broad daylight, Derek Chauvin made his first court appearance today. His bail increased to $1.25 million. His original bail was set at $500,000 but today at bail setting, “Judge Denise Reilly acknowledged Assistant Attorney General Matthew Frank’s assertion that the case had prompted, a strong reaction in the community to put it mildly,” Daily Mail reports.
During court, Chauvin admitted to having another gun and said if he gets released on bail, his firearm will be removed and he must surrender his permits/licenses. Also, he won’t be allowed to have any contact with the family of George Floyd, he can’t work any law enforcement or security job, and he can’t leave the state without permission. If convicted as charged, he faces only 40 years. His charges are for second-degree manslaughter and second-degree murder.
The other three now ex-officers, J Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, and Tou Thao have been charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder – unintentional – while committing a felony and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter, culpable negligence creating unreasonable risk. They also face up to 40 years and will have to pay a fine if convicted.
Ex-cop Derek Chauvin’s bail is set at $1.25 million bail w/conditions:

– can’t work law enforcement or security
– can’t possess firearms/ammunition & must surrender permits/licenses
– waive extradition
