Chicago public schools are making a change.
As reported on sources, the state will provide free condoms and other items to fifth graders or children 10-years-old and up. Under the new policy, public schools will be required to carry out a condom availability program to educate children while also safeguarding them from unwanted pregnancies and serious illnesses such as HIV AIDS, a news source reports. They will also provide menstruation products and pandemic necessities like sanitizers, face masks, wipes, and thermometers.
The board of education passed the policy in December. According to the policy, “giving contraception to minors who have largely yet to undergo puberty is medically accurate” and provides strategies to support all students that are inclusive of gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, sexual behavior, race, and disability.”
The policy received a lot of criticism. However, lawmakers believe they’re doing the right thing. A CPS doctor and a pediatrician for 30 years told Chicago Sun-Times, “Young people have the right to accurate and clear information to make healthy decisions.”
Due to COVID-19, public schools in Chicago closed down. However, they’ll open in the fall, and the new policy will go into effect.

It's not so derogatory to speak of, but America struggles with teen-age pregnancies at alarming rate. Excessive freedom to kids, negligence and uneducated parents, and weak laws led them to such decisions.
