You never thought that hip hop would take it this far!
Thought by many to be one of the top 5 rap artists in the history of the genre, The Notorious B.I.G. will officially be enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame!
The rapper released his debut album in 1994, and blew up on the scene with the release of Ready To Die, which featured iconic singles such as “Juicy,” “Big Poppa,” and “One More Chance.” Three years later, sixteen days after his tragic murder, Biggie Smalls released Life After Death on March 25, 1997.
Notorious B.I.G. is only the fifth hip hop artist to be enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, joining Run-D.M.C. (2009), Beastie Boys (2012), Public Enemy (2013), N.W.A (2016) and the lone solo rap artist until now, 2Pac (2016).
Another icon also entered their place in history.
10 years after eligibility, Whitney Houston will also finally enter the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
One of the greatest voices in music history, released her debut album in 1985, and had 7 solo albums, and involved in two iconic soundtrack projects in The Preachers Wife, and 1992’s The Bodyguard.
Other members of the class of 2020 include Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, and T. Rex.
Artists are eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, 25 years after their debut album.
