Colin Kaepernick shared special/powerful words on Instagram following the death of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, who died while in police custody with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Kaepernick shared a message online that says,

“When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logic answer. The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears because your violence has brought this resistance. We have the right to fight back! Rest in power George Floyd.”

In 2016, former San Francisco 49ers player Kaepernick wanted to raise more awareness of social injustice across the nation so he peacefully took a knee during the national anthem at one of his games. Since then, he’s been blackballed from playing in the NFL but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing his activism work. His life partner Nessa shared an article from USA Today that connected the ultimate reason for Kapernick taking a knee and Floyd’s death. It says, “many who hold power in America refuse to acknowledge that those with brown and black skin are treated differently. Seen as ‘less than.’

We continue to hope that true justice will be served for George Floyd.
