This is a true WTF story.

According to a report, a man from Texas allegedly posed as the singer Bruno Mars and swindled a woman for $100,000.

The unidentified 63-year-old woman thought she was talking to the real Bruno Mars online. The romance went on because the two chatted online and via text, and the imposter sent pictures and videos while on tour which made the woman think it was real. She claims the “fake” Bruno told her to quit her job to come on tour with him. As reported on the document, the fake Bruno account started asking the woman for money.

“According to investigators, she was asked to make out a $10,000 check to a ‘friend of the band’ for ‘tour expenses,’ and then, two days later, draw out more funds, this time amounting to $90,000. Each amount was deposited in separate accounts, which were each held by Azuonwu and an alleged accomplice, Basil Amadi.”

After authorities investigated, they noticed all the money was withdrawn out of the accounts. Amadi claims he didn’t know anything about the situation but he and the imposter are charged with money laundering. They’re both in Harris County jail with bail set at $30,000.

Will the real Bruno Mars, please stand up….
