The nation’s largest movie theater chain is gearing up to open it’s doors again.
Like many other businesses worldwide, movie theaters had to shut its doors due to the pandemic. Reported on ABC-7, the movie theater chain will tee open on August 20 to 100 cinemas, or about a sixth of all of their locations. They’re also chopping the ticket price to pennies, charging a “retro ticket price” of 15 cents per movie. They’re calling the special day, “Movies in 2020 at 1920 Prices.” The offer is only for one day. After that tickets will be $5, according to the source.
AMC reopened in some places internationally but not in the United States. New York and California are the only states that haven’t allowed for the reopening of movie theaters
As for the rest of the states, AMC will offer a variety of old films like Ghostbusters,” “Black Panther,” “Back to the Future” and “Grease.” ABC also reports “AMC confirmed that Disney’s much-delayed “New Mutants” will debut in theaters Aug. 28, with Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” to follow Sept. 3.”
Other smaller new releases are also planned for late August, including “Unhinged,” “Personal History of David Copperfield,” from Disney’s Fox Searchlight.
In order to watch any AMC film, you must adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines which include practicing social distance, cashless transactions, and of course requiring masks. Don’t worry if you forgot yours, they have them for sale for $1. They will also have sanitizing stations around the theater.
