This has the makings to be one of the biggest boxing matches of all time. The question is, will it really happen?

Floyd Mayweather officially announced that he was coming out of retirement over the weekend, but on one condition. That he will only fight Conor McGregor.

Mayweather and McGregor have been having this dialog for a long time now with the sticking point being money. With negotiations seemingly underway, that might work out.

UFC president Dana White was on Conan Wednesday night to discuss the chances of a fight.

“I do think it’s gonna happen,” White said Wednesday night on Conan. “I think it’s going to be a tough deal, because obviously [there are] a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always makes it tougher. On the flip side, there’s so much money involved. I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen.”

Let’s see.

Mayweather is currently sitting at 49-0, one short of the record. Meanwhile McGregor is UFC’s current lightweight champion.

This fight would be a one of a kind of a cross promotion fight between UFC and boxing, in this case Showtime. We will see if this fight which has tons of negotiating left to do will happen by June.
