George Floyd’s family has reportedly been told the other three former Minneapolis officers involved in his killing, will be charged.

Family attorney Benjamin Crump said on Tuesday, “They will be charged. That is what the family is hearing from authorities,” during an interview on NBC’s Today.

We recently reported that the four Minneapolis officers have been fired for their involvement in the death of George Floyd.  Jacob Frey, the mayor of Minneapolis, issued a statement on Twitter saying that it was “This is the right call.” Former officer Derek Chauvin, who you see in the viral video with his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck, was arrested and charged with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter.

Crump believes that charges against the primary offending officer, Derek Chauvin will be raised to first-degree murder. “I think it’s very likely the charges are going to be upgraded…Why is it when a white police kills a black person in America, we act like it’s such a difficult thing to charge them with what we would be charged with?” Crump asked.
