August Alsina is being transparent with his fans.
He dropped his highly anticipated 27-track album, The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy after a five-year break. He also released his documentary series on YouTube called, stateofEMERGEncy: The Rise of August Alsina. The series explores the process behind creating the album and his personal life.
In the multipart series, August talked about an unwanted experience from when he was younger. He opened up about being molested from “someone close,” he didn’t go into detail on who. The tragic event has caused him pain as he grew up. It also hurt him that his mother exposed his secret to people after he asked her to not tell anyone. In the series, he said moms are supposed to protect and keep your information sacred.
In the series, August said that the person who molested him is still in his life in some way, however, their relationship isn’t pleasant. August said he wonders how a person who hurt someone could treat them in a bad way after they’ve already caused them pain. However, August also said that he has forgiveness in his heart and doesn’t carry hate.

August had been away from the music scene for some time to take care of his autoimmune disease that left him unable to walk last year. He’s able to walk now and has remained in good spirits through it all.
In the series, he said the love from his fans kept him going, especially knowing that they enjoy and relate to his music.
