This is what offended Azealia Banks.
If you remember, earlier this month Banks went on Instagram to reveal her disgust at Nick Cannon and the staff of Wild N’ Out after she recorded her appearance.
Footage was finally released of the joke that offended the artist, and it came during a game of “So Petty” as comedian DC Young Fly said “Nick Cannon is so petty. He couldn’t get Cardi B, so he got Azealia’s ugly ass.” The crowd laughed, and then she picked up the mic to address the joke by calling it “anti-black.”
Her experience on the show resulted in her speaking her frustrations on Instagram. At the time back in July she described the situation as follows: “I show up and some guy who’s darker than me starts calling me ugly and being colorist, then all of a sudden a choir of the most disgustingly basic, local, cattle call ‘urban’ pseudo comedic ‘FAT BECause You sit in a chair all day’ greasy soul food induced south of the mason Dixon ,self hatred,” she added. “Ass It#backwards, post-Jim crow , post traumatic slave disorder true self esteem less, Ward of the state CLOWNS with their low scale and highly UNimpressive resumes, start going off about how the beautiful Azealia Banks looks! I’ve never felt so much hate and rage for anyone else than I did in that moment. Yemaya was really on stage.”
Nick Cannon then responded at the time.
