Robert Kelly reportedly found himself a friend while in the slammer.

As reported on XXL, disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly and Brooklyn subway shooter Frank James are supposedly friends. They didn’t know each other before being locked up at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The outlet points out the two men are considered “high-risk inmates,” so they’re housed in the same unit. It also says they eat and go to rec together. However, they’re not in the same cell.

R. Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, told New York Daily News that her client doesn’t have control of who he’s around at MDC. Bonjean said, “Mr. Kelly is not in control of who he is housed with. A friend is someone you voluntarily hang out with.” The lawyer for James declined to comment on his client’s friendship with the singer.

We all know, the “Bump N’ Grind” singer remains in a federal detention center in New York. Last year R Kelly was found guilty for sex trafficking. He was convicted by a federal judge for racketeering conspiracy, alleging he headed a criminal enterprise that employed agents, runners, bodyguards, and others to lure and trap girls and young women to satisfy his sexually predatory desires.

James is awaiting sentencingfor his role in the horrible mass shooting on the N train in Brooklyn back on April 12. Frank is believed to be the man that went on a subway, released two smoke grenades, opened fire and caused havoc. It left 23 people injured out of that, 10 were shot. After an intense search for several hours, Frank called the police to let them know where he was, and he was apprehended a short time later. News reports say this mass shooting is one of the worst outbreaks of violence on a subway in the city’s history.
