Is Drake still on Cash Money or nah?
That has been the question ever since Lil’ Wayne settled his lawsuit with Cash Money Records and Universal resulting in the rapper being released from his label after being the only label he’s known.
Birdman and Cash Money co-founder Slim sat down with Forbes recently where they answered the question we all wanted to know.
“We always let Drake do what he wanted,” he said. “Same thing we did with Nicki [Minaj]. It’s hard to tell them people what to do and how to do it. I wanted to allow them to do what they wanted to do. That’s one of the blessings about being an artist. You gotta let them paint they own picture”
He then answered the direct question…kind of.
“We forever in business in Drake,” he began. Slim then jumped in to clear up that they were not able to discuss the situation, “we can’t speak on none of that.” Birdman then continued. “All I can tell you is we forever in business with Drake. We’ve got great friendship, a great partnership with respect on both sides. And honestly, I feel like we’re forever in business with Drake. F*** what you heard and what you might hear. It is what it is. We’re in business with Drake.”
Hmm. What does that mean exactly?
