Disney is making a major move partnering with Colin Kaepernick!

Today, the Walt Disney Company announced a first-look deal with Colin‘s production arm Ra Vision Media. The content will reportedly have scripted and unscripted stories that explore social injustice, race, and the quest for equity. This platform will also provide opportunities for Black and Brown people in media.

ESPN reports, “The first-look deal will extend across all Walt Disney Platforms including Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, Pixar, and The Undefeated. Kaepernick will work closely with The Undefeated, which is expanding its portfolio across Disney, to develop stories from the perspective of Black and Brown communities and to elevate their voices.

The first ESPN Films series will explore Colin’s journey from football player to a leader in the modern-day civil rights movement. People will get to see new interviews and never-before-seen footage of Colin’s peaceful fight to stop police brutality. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is telling his story from his perspective, Disney wrote in a statement.

It’s not clear when the docuseries will air but it’s being executive produced by Libby Geist, Kevin Merida, and Connor Schell. Jemele Hill will also produce, according to a source. Colin also has a six-part Netflix series, Colin In Black & White, directed by Ava DuVernay, which will also give more insight into Colin’s life. Colin said,

“I look forward to sharing the docuseries on my life story, in addition to many other culturally impactful projects we are developing.”

This is incredible and well-deserved!
