Conor McGregor has officially announced his retirement.

The MMA fighter went to Twitter to announce his decision to walk away from the sport that allowed him to become one of the biggest fighters in the history of UFC.

“I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today,” he wrote. “I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!”

McGregor is a former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion. His stature allowed a huge fight between himself and Floyd Mayweather which ended in a decisive loss.

His return fight in MMA against Khabib Nurmagomedov ended in a shocking knockout which then spilled outside the cage after the fight.
