A man rushes the stage while Dave Chappelle was performing at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night. In the videos circulating the internet, you can see a man literally running on stage and tackles Dave to the ground. The man comes from Chappelle’s right, and catches the comedian off guard.
The man was taken away by security then later detained by LAPD who confirmed they had taken a man into custody and that he was armed with a replica gun “that can eject a knife blade” when discharged correctly.
Other videos show the aftermath of the incident. In the videos you can see Chapelle call Jamie Foxx to the stage where they joke about the incident.“Whenever you’re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat,” said Chappelle. “N*gga, I thought that was part of the show, I didn’t know what the f*ck…” Foxx says jokingly. Chappelle finishes “I grabbed the back of that n*gga head. His hair was spongy. Absorbent”
Jamie Foxx addresses the crowd by saying, “listen, I just want to say, this man is an absolute genius. We’ve got to make sure we protect him at all times,” said Foxx.He added, “For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You’re a genius. You’re a legend, I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and we’re not going to let nothing happen to you.”
