It’s been over a week since we learned that Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital after a reported drug overdose.

On Sunday (Aug 5), the singer decided to write a message to all her fans for all the support she has received while she was in the hospital.

“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” she writes in the message on Instagram. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

The 25-year-old has been fighting addiction for years, and has been open about her stuggles after finding fame as a teenager in the Disney movie Camp Rock.

“I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery,” she later wrote. “I will keep fighting.”

According to TMZ, she was discharged from Cedars-Subai Medical Center in Los Angeles Saturday, and a rehab center that is considered “one of the nation’s leading facilities for addiction.” The report states she is expected to be there for an “extended” period.
