It looks like Ariana Grande isn’t the only artist to decline performing at the Grammys this Sunday.  As the biggest night in music is vastly approaching, three major hip-hop artists decided not to perform at Grammys. Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Childish Gambino have all declined a performance spot which sheds light on a much bigger issue that the Grammys have been facing for years.

In a recent New York Times article, Ken Ehrlich, Grammys producer, speaks on the issue of how the show has been leaving out or alienating hip-hop artists for years. “The fact of the matter is, we continue to have a problem in the hip-hop world. When they don’t take home the big prize, the regard of the academy, and what the Grammys represent, continues to be less meaningful to the hip-hop community, which is sad.”

The Grammys will air live on CBS on Sunday at 8pm.
