Dwight Howard is currently mourning the death of his son’s mother, Melissa Rios.

It has been reported that Rios passed away six weeks ago from an epileptic seizure. While speaking to reporters, Howard revealed that he is having a difficult time explaining what happened to his six-year-old son.

It’s been one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to deal with. It’s really hard, especially during this time. There’s nowhere to go. Usually, if things are happening, we have basketball or something to keep our minds going. But a situation like this, it’s a situation that I’ll have to deal with forever because of our child.”

He continued, “I’ve had some things happen in my personal life that has been difficult to really handle. My son’s mom, she had passed away a month and a half ago and it’s extremely difficult for me to try to understand how to talk to my son, who’s 6 years old, just about the whole situation.”

Howard also said that there was no way that he wouldn’t be there for his son. Let’s keep Dwight Howard and his family in our prayers during this time.
