Saweetie is making headlines again this week.

Following her break up with Quavo, the rapper graced the cover of April’s issue of Cosmopolitan.

During her interview with the publication, she mentioned that her 2018 interview with Ebro In The Morning gave her “PTSD.” Ebro asked Saweetie to drop some bars in that segment, and he called her freestyle “basic” and wasn’t impressed. Take a look:

The Bay Area rapper said it caused her to have self-doubt. She told the magazine,  “I went from being so loved so quickly because of ‘Icy Girl’ to, on my first promo run, well, you saw the interview. The script flipped really quick, like night and day. I had PTSD from that.”

The “Best Friend” rapper went on to say she’s not a freestyle type of rapper, but she works hard at her craft. Sweetie said,  “Some of us have it naturally. And some of us don’t…like me. And that’s okay because I know that as long as I work hard, I’ll become one of the best.”

Ebro addressed the matter under the comment section of the The Neighborhood Talk Blog. He mentioned that he loves Saweetie and is happy for her success, but he’ll keep it real with any artist when it comes to bars. He said, “you want to rap and it’s just ‘cool,’ we gone tell you. So happy for her success, but that doesn’t mean we can be dishonest about freestyles….love Saweetie though.” Take a look:

Saweetie is seeing a lot of accomplishments and has grown as an artist. Her singles like “Tap In” and “My Type” saw Billboard success, and “My Type” is double platinum. Her debut single, “Icy Girl” is certified platinum.

During a conversation on Ebro in the Morning, Laura Stylez, Rosenberg, and Ebro addressed that day she came into the studio in 2018, and explained how the team tried to find ways so Saweetie would not freestyle to avoid any hurt in the situation.

“When she came in we were down to do the interview,” Laura Stylez said. “Her team was really pushing her to freestyle. I remember specifically us lying telling her the equipment didn’t work. We LIED and said our equipment wasn’t working, we didn’t want her to freestyle, lets just do the interview.”

Last year, Saweetie checked in with our own TT Torrez for Artist Quarantine and let us know that her next album Pretty Bitch Music is on the way, and we can’t wait!
