Estelle travelled all the way from Los Angeles to sit down with Ebro in the Morning and talk about her new music, the music scene in the United Kingdom, afrobeats and much more.
She worked with Kanye West on one of her biggest singles in “American Boy.” Following some of Kanye’s recent controversial comments about slavery and Donald Trump, she discussed how she felt about it.
“I feel like your opinion is your opinion, do your thing bro,” she said. “I also think it is very divisive.”
The UK native also shared her excitement about the current crop of artists coming out of the region finding success. She claims it is partially because “you have to be real” and they all grew up singing for real.
Don’t worry Sam Smith was not let off the hook for saying he did not like Michael Jackson.
Her album Lovers Rock, is a inspired by a lot of reggae, afrobeat, and r&b sounds, and based around her parents love story. It is available now.
