Earlier today (March 6), R. Kelly sat down with Gayle King to give his first statements since his most recent arrest, in an 80 minute interview on CBS This Morning.
Hours later, the family of Joycelyn Savage, who had an alleged relationship with Kelly and was featured in the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R. Kelly, held a press conference to give her rebuttal to the singer’s comments.
Kelly stated at one point in the interview that Savage’s parents had “sold her” to him. He also denied having sex with with her as a minor.
The family’s attorney Gerald Grigg claims those statements were a lie.
“Mr. Kelly stated on Gayle King’s show that Mr. Timothy Savage provided his daughter on stage at a concert that Mr. Kelly was performing at,” he said. “That is absolutely not true.”
Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary sat down with Gayle King in an interview which is scheduled to be released later this week. During the clip of the interview, Savage consoles Clary who is weeping about the allegations against Kelly.
“You guys don’t know the truth,” she says. “You guys [the media] believe some facade our parents are saying.”
