It looks like it is game over for GameStop.
Earlier this week, the popular retailer announced that it will be closing between 180 and 200 stores in the U.S. and around the world. As reported by ABC News, the retailer’s executives did not mention how many of its employees will be affected by the closing stores or which locations will be shut down. All that was mentioned was that the stores that were underperforming would be on the “chopping block”.
Currently, GameStop has more than 5,700 stores in 14 countries. The closures of these stores are expected to begin sometime during this fiscal year.
The company also warned that more stores could be shut down over the next two years.
