After being job shamed last week, Geoffrey Owens has just landed a major Hollywood gig. Yesterday, a representative for Owens told CNN that he has accepted a job offer from Tyler Perry.

Tyler Perry tweeted out his support after Owens made headlines recently due to a viral article and photo showing him working at Trader Joe’s. In his tweet, Perry said he respected Owens and asked him to come on board for the drama he is shooting for OWN. Although there are no details yet about the role, Owens is reportedly set to be featured in a few episodes.

Owens rose to fame as Elvin Tibideaux on “The Cosby Show” from 1985 to 1992. He confirmed he worked at the grocery store for 15 months to support his family. He left the job after the story gained traction in the media this month. Thankfully, he says the response since the break has been extremely positive. Considering this new job offer, the event turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
