George Floyd's family is taking legal action against Kanye West.
The mother of George's daughter, Gianna, hired a team of lawyers to sue him after his comments on Drink Champs. As a result of the rapper's false claims about George's death, Gianna is being "retraumatized," and the family says it's creating an "unsafe and unhealthy environment for her," TMZ reports.
Gianna's mother, Roxie Washington, is also going after Kanye's business partners and his associates for harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress, TMZ reports. They're suing for $250 million.
According to the outlet, the letter says,
"Mr. Floyd's cause of death is well-settled through evidence presented in courts of law during the criminal and civil trials that were the result of his untimely and horrific death. Nevertheless, you have maliciously made statements that are inaccurate and unfounded, causing damage to Mr. Floyd's estate and his family."
The family demands that Kanye stop speaking about George and remove the interview and any further statements.
