Hip hop artists Gucci Mane and Foogiano are caught up in a legal situation.
Reported on NYDN, the two artists were named in a wrongful death lawsuit for negligence over a fatal shooting in South Carolina.
Back on July 5, Foogiano was performing at the Lavish Lounge in Greenville. Billboard reports “an altercation broke out by the stage around 2 a.m. and multiple shots were fired.” Eight people were injured and two people were killed, Clarence Sterling Johnson, 51, and Mykala Bell. During a press conference, Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis said the shooting was most likely gang-related.
A representative for one of the victims who was killed, Mykala, filed the wrongful death suit. The suit describes Gucci as a promoter, which is why his name is being included. It’s not clear if Gucci Mane was present during the shooting. The suit also claims that security failed to pat people down, which is why guns were brought into the venue. Other defendants include the lounge’s ownership group, Rommie Khalil, WHR Social Club, Inc, and a colleague of Foogiano, Jarquez Kezavion Cooper.
Jarquez was arrested and charged with two counts of murder, among other charges, in connection with the incident.
Gucci or Foogiano hasn’t publically spoken out on the matter, Gucci is getting ready for the baby on the way with his wife Keyshia Ka’oir, and Foogiano is performing at venues.
