In 2002, Dr. Dre announced that he is working on a brand new album he would title Detox. 16 years later, fans are still waiting for the folktale to come to life.
The producer has said over the years that some of the beats and songs for the album have been used for different artists over the years.
In 2015, we got a full length album from Dr. Dre, but it wasn’t Detox. The name of the project was : A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre which was inspired by the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton.
ESPN reporter Chris Haynes was on hand at a Golden State Warriors practice where Dr. Dre was present. He asked about the album which seems like a myth these days and got an answer no one was expecting.
“I’m working on a couple songs right now. We’ll see.”
I asked Dr. Dre if Detox is permanently shelved and he replied, “I’m working on a couple songs right now. We’ll see.”
