The global pandemic is causing somehip hop artists to put their star power to good use! We covered the story last week, Jay Z and Rihanna donated $1 million each from their foundations to help the global crisis. It’s being reported that Hov is donating 100,000 masks to prisons, alongside Meek Mill. Through their REFORM Alliance, which is their criminal justice reform program, masks will be given out to facilities across the U.S. The chief advocacy officer at REFORM, Jessica Jackson told CBS, “We're really worried about the number of people coming in and out of the facility, and the fact that the people living there might be sitting ducks during this pandemic." Many prisons are releasing low-level crime inmates to help stop the spread of the virus. On the other hand, Cardi B. reportedly donated 20,000 meals to NYC doctors and first responders. TMZ reports she donated 20,000 bottles of OWYN, a plant-based, vegan meal supplement drink. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper wanted to help workers especially since most times they don’t get a chance to eat. Our very own DJ Camilo donated over 10,000 Slice pies to local hospital staff in Queens, New York. He’s matching donations so if you’d like to help, click here. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-YD0gAJyHj/?igshid=1tq1hyw9m36zchttps://www.instagram.com/p/B-fFGMHpqOF/?igshid=r1nt8yp00x9qIt’s nice to see people doing what they can!
